Cubik storage

We spend less and less time in one place. We move between home, private meetings, training, collaboration and individual work. Traditional storage is not agile enough to meet these requirements so Omni asked us to completely overhaul office storage; how it’s made, how it’s configured, how it works.

To begin with we based the design around a unique ‘spine’ based structure. This allows more flexibility in cabinet construction and storage applications than traditional formats. Cabinets can then either be completely open or fully enclosed. Items that need to be hidden or secured can be placed behind doors, items that need to be accessed frequently can be placed on open shelves. Linked cabinets can also be used to divide and shape floor space.

We also realised that to be more efficient with space, fewer of us have allocated spaces so we must find an available place to work. However, moving from place to place creates a new challenge; where do we put the things we carry with us? Do you put your laptop bag or your handbag in the file drawer of a pedestal? Cubik supports agile working by being able to store items that we carry - such as cycle helmets, gym bags, shopping, coats, etc. So we based the storage space around these items - and not just paper files.
